Police Arrest Sex Offender Who Tried to Pick Up Student
ABC News 7, Arlington, VA

Annapolis, Md. – Wednesday August 29, 2007 – Police arrested a registered child sex offender after he tried to pick up a student from Annapolis High School Tuesday.

School officials say 22-year-old Torrence Davis walked into the main office around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday where he was flagged after his identification was entered into the school's computer system.

Authorities spoke with Davis who claimed he was the student's relative but then quickly left the building without the child. Further investigation by the school's resource officer found that Davis is a registered child sexual offender and banned from public school properties. They contacted the student's mother who told them she had sent Davis, a family friend, to pick up her child. The student did not leave the school with Davis.

Annapolis City Police then arrested Davis on trespassing charges around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
