Keeping Predators Away
KDBC-TV, El Paso, Texas

3/22/07 – To get on school campuses... typically all you need to do is sign in. But the Socorro Independent School District has a new system keeping sex offenders from doing just that.

It's called the Raptor Visitor Check In System. Here's how it works.

When a visitor enters the school, they are required to show their driver's license. The school secretary uses the computer system to look for that person in all sex offender databases Nationwide. If a positive match is found, school officials will automatically know before allowing the person access to classrooms and children.

The Socorro Independent School District is the first district in El Paso to get the computer system.

Raptor Technologies says their program has helped catch 300 sex offenders attempting to get on school campuses across the Country.
