What are districts doing to keep your child safe?

The shooting in the PA Amish school has many parents wondering about safety. When it comes to security, what are area school districts doing?

Here are some districts and their security procedures.

Cy-Fair ISD said they have cameras at schools, the V-soft system which is similar to the raptor system which takes visitors id and does instant background cheks. They also have counselors in place to discuss the matter with any student who has concerns about shootings.

Pasadena ISD said they are on a heightened state of alert. They have security cameras in place on their campuses and have routine lockdown drills to train students on what to do in these situations.

Pearland is checking on any new changes but say they have been improving their schools security for the last several years. Officials said it is their priority.

Alief ISD said they have tripled the number of hall monitors at the high schools, implemented the raptor system and have placed cameras at every entrance door in the high schoools.

HISD said it has the only school district police department in the nation that is accredited by CALEA, which is a national police certification agency. They have 175 uniformed police officers to keep schools safe every day, including a patrol division, an investigations division, mounted police.
