School technology tracks visitors
Jun 28, 2005, WQAD, Chicago, IL

MOLINE – Illinois police officers working to keep your kids safe got a look at some of the latest technology for school security today at the Illinois D.A.R.E. Association Conference.

Raptor Technologies showed off V-soft, its new system to track visitors. Schools scan drivers’ licenses of parents, delivery guys, or other visitors. Then, print out a badge with their name, photo, and business at the school.

The program also checks visitors against 43 states' sex offender databases and red flags potentially dangerous visitors.

Rick Roman with Raptor Technologies says, "Because we're checking 43 states’ sex offender databases, whether a sex offender moves into this area and doesn't register or is registered in another state, we're going to be able to pull that information up."

800 schools across the country use the tracking system, including Texas, Florida, and the Chicago-land area.
